A key character in The Wizard of Oz
In the movie The Wizard of Oz, he is the cause of Dorothy missing her balloon ride back to Kansas. For as the Wizard is about to take off in the balloon, a girl in the crowd is holding a Siamese kitten which distracts Toto, causing him to jump out of the basket and Dorothy to chase after him.
Inspiration in the lyrics of a song
Bob Dylan, an American singer-songwriter, widely regarded as one of the most prolific and influential figures in popular music, mentioned a Siamese cat in his 1965 classic “Like A Rolling Stone.”
Has appeared in family films
This breed of cat has made memorable appearances in the films Lady and the Tramp and Lady and the Tramp II: The Adventures of Scamp, as two identical antagonistic Siamese cats named Si and Am. Additionally, a Siamese cat appears in the movie The Aristocats, as a member of Scat Cat’s gang.

Once lived in the White House
The breed was first seen in Europe from 1871 during a Crystal Palace Cat Show in the City of London, and appeared in the United States in 1879 as a gift to the wife of President Rutherford B. Hayes, where it was cared for in the White House.
It is of eastern origin
The Siamese is the legendary temple cat of the King of Siam , as confirmed by manuscripts from Ayudha, the ancient capital of Siam (now Thailand). In the Cat Book Poems, a manuscript dating back to the twelfth century, a pale-furred cat is shown with a black mask, tail, paws, and ears.
Recognition as a breed
In 1979, The International Cat Association foundation recognized the Siamese as one of the original breeds in championship competition. While in the organization Cat Fanciers’ Association ( FCA ) it is officially recognized in 1906 as the original cat
